Akshardham: The most famous temple of “
Swaminarayan Sect” the richest sect in the world. The temple is
built with 6000 tones of pink sand stones and has beautiful
carvings. Lush green gardens and admirable fountains surround it.
Akshardham is a miracle worked by thousands of volunteers of Shri
Akshar Purushottam Sanstha (Bochasan) who gave their time and talent
for months and years inspired by his Holiness Pramukh Swami Maharaj.
The complex is a grand dedication to Lord Swaminarayan and
commemorates his birth bicentenary. The complex spread in an area of
23 acres was opened on 2nd November 1992 and is considered as
India’s eternal monument and as one of the marvels of the 20th
century. Akshardham in sector 20 a Hindu temple with a cultural
complex and an entertainment park. It is a rare confluence of art
education and creativity with a stone monument of pink sandstone:
interactive exhibitions on Indian Culture Contemplative Gardens and
a futuristic Research Centre for social harmony being a few of them.
Outside there is a garden for meditation the Shahajanabad Vun.
